The Alaska Marijuana Handler Card is a state approved course for anyone who works in the Alaska cannabis industry in any of the licensed establishments. Whether you're an owner, cultivator, processor, lab technician, budtender, transporter, or working security, this is the perfect course to teach you all of the required laws and regulations in the industry.

This is also the only course that gives back to the cannabis community and industry by donating a portion of the proceeds to the Alaska Marijuana Industry Association for lobbying efforts in Juneau and to subsidize member events. All AMIA members get a $5 discount, so consider joining today!

This course must cover: Alaska's medical marijuana laws, Ballot Measure 2, all of the state wide regulations (Ch 306), the effects of marijuana consumption, how to identify an impaired individual, how to distinguish valid forms of government issued IDs, how to intervene and prevent unlawful consumption, and the penalties for any unlawful acts. Other courses may offer additional information that is not required by the state.

The course is divided into 11 lessons in video format, along with transcripts. After course completion, one has 3 chances to pass the exam with a 70% pass rate. The cover page from the Marijuana Control Board, the course exam certificate, a 2x2 passport size photo, and a photo ID must then be submitted to the director of the Marijuana Control Board who will issue the actual Handler Card to you. More directions will be emailed to you upon course completion.

Careers in Cannabis: What You Need to Know
Saturday 12:00 PM

Dollynda Phelps
The Economic Impact of the Cannabis Industry in the Kenai Peninsula Borou
Saturday 1:00 PM

The Economic Impact is obviously a key point when considering the cannabis industry, mainly what is it doing for us locally? The information collected for the survey was acquired by personally asking each licensee in the Kenai Peninsula Borough a series of questions in a survey format. The information was then collected and tallied to give us our final Impact numbers.

We have seen collectively with 34 new businesses over $5M in initial start up costs, over 80 new jobs, and close to $300,000/yr in sales tax to our local school district. Very promising numbers.

I hope other municipalities or cities will conduct surveys of their own which may at some point be representative of the entire state of Alaska.

Brian Coyle
The Benefits of Cannabis Testing for the Consumer
Saturday 2:00 PM

While most cannabis today was bred for high THC content, the importance of other cannabinoids and terpenes is now recognized and many of them are now breeders’ targets. Steep Hill Alaska analyzes for 12 cannabinoids and up to 23 terpenes. We will review our chromatographic methods for measuring cannabinoid and terpene content in cannabis flower and cannabis products. We will talk about the pharmacology and potential therapeutic interactions of terpenes with cannabinoids at multiple sites in the human body.
